About IntelliRad Imaging, LLC

Founded in 2013 in Miami, Florida, by 4 radiologists
Physician-owned and physician-managed with no plans to sell to a consolidator or private equity group
- No relation to or affiliation with Intelerad Medical Systems (Intelerad PACS).
We practice at 5 hospitals in Broward and Miami-Dade Counties in Florida plus 6 freestanding emergency rooms and a few outpatient centers, all of which are affiliated with the HCA health system.
- These 5 hospitals include 4 stroke centers and 2 trauma centers.
- We have steadily won the contract for one additional hospital every 2 years since our founding.
We utilize a unified worklist with a single PACS for all cases other than mammograms.
We teach and manage a GME radiology residency program at Aventura Hospital with 22 residents (growing to 28 by 2027).
We internally employ all physicians and do not utilize any teleradiology companies.
Our long-term plan is to grow within the HCA health system to acquire new hospitals all over Florida by implementing a robust IR program and a solid DR program.

Daily Shifts

IntelliRad does not outsource any reads or any shifts to nighthawk or teleradiology services. All shifts are staffed by internal IntelliRad physicians. As our needs change, we create new shifts and/or hire additional physicians.

Vacations and Scheduling for On-Site Physicians:
- Vacation: For our regular daytime physicians who are not on a specific schedule (like our overnight physicians or late evening physicians), we offer 10 weeks of vacation and flexible scheduling. Physicians can request a single day or large blocks of time at any time throughout the year.
- Flexible scheduling: Physicians can request specific shifts as needed. For example, if you have a dentist appt in the morning, you can request an afternoon or evening shift that day. If you need to be home by 5pm for your child’s school event one evening, you can request an early shift that day. If you are flying home from vacation on Monday morning and don’t want to waste a vacation day that Monday, you can request an evening shift for that night.
- Local scheduling: IntelliRad will attempt to minimize your commute times by scheduling you at the hospitals that are closest to your house whenever possible.
  Work from home shifts: afternoon, evening, and overnight shifts are all WFH. Only early weekday shifts are on-site. Most weekend shifts are also WFH with the caveat that if there is a fluoro case, the physician may have to drive to the hospital if a resident is not on-site.
- Parental Leave: Pregnant physicians will be scheduled to WFH during their last month of pregnancy to minimize risk and communication. Maternity and paternity leave is provided.

Teaching GME Residency Program:

22 radiology residents (7 R1s and 5 per year for R2 through R4)
Residents’ schedule is partially assigned based on body system (e.g. neuro, mammo, cardiac, etc.) and partially assigned based on modality (emergency, MRI, etc.)
Residents are on-site at Aventura Hospital, Kendall Hospital, Westside Hospital and Mercy Hospital (IR and mammo R4s only).
IntelliRad offers mini fellowships in IR, breast/mammo, and body MRI.
On-site IntelliRad physicians usually give one presentation to the residents every other month. If physicians enjoy giving these presentations, they are welcome to present more frequently.

Clinical information:

Diagnostic radiologists rarely perform paracenteses, thoracenteses, line placements, etc.; these cases are nearly always handled by the interventional radiologists and/or IntelliRad’s APPs. Diagnostic radiologists usually only perform fluoro cases, although many of the fluoro cases are handled by our residents.

IR and Neurointerventional Services:

Outpatient Consultations for IR and NIS: IntelliRad has an outpatient clinic where we see pre- and post-operative IR patients via telemedicine with our clinic nurse practitioners. All referrals for outpatient IR procedures are funneled through this clinic. Our clinic schedules each patient and gets the procedure pre-authorization after the clinic visit.
Inpatient and emergency dept IR and NIS: Each hospital has at least one APP (APRN or PA) assigned to the IR service and a second APP assigned to the NIS service to handle all consultations and follow-ups.
